When the Willis brothers heard that the Great Northern Railroad Company was building a railroad from Houston to Chicago, they decided to donate their land to the railroad company in hopes that the railroad would pass through their town and spur on its development. The idea paid off and Willis, TX was born.
Willis is now home to just under 6,000 residents situated on three square miles of land in Montgomery County, Texas. The city is also home to the Texas National Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course covering more than 200 acres. It was also the original home of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame, which has since been moved to San Antonio, TX.
