In 2010, Appleton, Wisconsin was listed by Money Magazine as one of the 100 best places to live in America. Located along the Fox River in eastern Wisconsin, Appleton currently serves as the county seat of Outagamie, Wisconsin and is home to over 72,000 residents. For example, the city is roughly 25 square miles in size yet maintains 24 neighborhood parks with the largest, Memorial Park, at 139 acres in size. Memorial Park has seven baseball and softball fields, a fishing pond, a sledding hill, playgrounds, and an indoor ice skating and hockey rink. There are also many wonderful biking and hiking trails located along and around the Fox River that flows through the center of town. The oldest park in Appleton, City Park, is the location for the annual Art at the Park showcase hosted by The Trout Museum of Art and features work from over 175 artists. Finally, the largest festival in Appleton happens during the city’s Octoberfest celebration that occurs each fall.
